	Reference: VA8 / Cat. No. Period: Roman Origin: Probably Gaul Date: 30 – 80 AD Description: Deep body. Concave discus encircled by moulding. Angled nozzle flanked by volutes. Wide base-ring. On discus: two lares (guardian spirits), each holding rhyton aloft and situla in other hand, flanking circular altar. Fabric: Buff clay with mottled vermilion and brown slip. Manufacture: Mould made. Notes: Cf. (subject) Walters, 543, 1064; Djuric, C144; Loeschcke, 390-1; (fabric) BMC III, Q1582 (found at Vaison-la-Romaine); London, LCT84.4024.2021, LEN89.1029.326. The fabric resembles Central Gaulish Colour-Coated Ware (Type 2/CGOF), associated with the Lezoux area, but was also produced elsewhere. Pub: D.
